Onto pastures new…
I’ve been thinking about this for a long time, and it really hasn’t been easy, but I’ve decided to step away from blogging. I still enjoy reading and journaling as part of my personal growth, and I’ll continue doing both, as they’ve become so ingrained in my daily routine (plus I have a huge number of self-help books to get through on my TBR list!) However, at this point in my life, I’m unable to give the blog the time, energy, and consistency it truly deserves. After six rewarding years of writing my blog and coaching others, I now want to focus on progressing my career and exploring other interests…

Embracing the Simple Life!
Between our day-to-day commitments and the unspoken pressure to ‘have it all’ – the latest gadgets, a spotless house, a nice car, packed social calendars, and a thriving career – it’s hardly surprising that life can feel exhausting and overwhelming. No wonder so many of us find ourselves daydreaming about moving to a desert island and escaping it all! A few years ago, I came to a point where I was sick of feeling like I was running on some kind of hamster wheel. My to-do list was overflowing with an array of obligations and tasks. I was constantly busy and distracted, and whenever I did force myself to put…

Do you trust ‘The Process’?
Review of The Process by Robbie Steinhouse (2025, 296 pages) If you’re intrigued by the world of therapy, or have ever wondered what really happens inside the swanky retreats featured in glossy wellbeing magazines, this might well be the book for you! The Process is the debut novel by NLP Master Trainer and ICF-certified coach Robbie Steinhouse. Although this is his first work of fiction, he is no stranger to writing. His professional background, and experience in leading workshops, clearly inform the novel and add a sense of authenticity. Disclosure: I received…

What Building Habits Really Looks Like: Insights from The Atomic Habits Workbook
Since my last post introducing The Atomic Habits Workbook by James Clear, I’ve returned to world of work and settled back into my usual routine of school runs and the never ending cycle of household chores! This shift has prompted me to get back into some good habits and to focus on small actions I can take to support my wellbeing. I’ve managed to carve out some time for daily meditation, thanks to Insight Timer’s meditation challenge, which has provided short, uplifting sessions each evening. Meditation really helps to calm my nervous system and grounds me after a busy day. After 5 or 10 minutes of a guided meditation I soon…

Want to make changes this year? What I’m learning about behaviour change and building habits that stick!
Review of The Atomic Habits Workbook by James Clear (2025, 320 pages) ‘The trajectory of your life bends in the direction of your habits. Whatever you repeat, you reinforce.’ (James Clear, The Atomic Habits Workbook, p.2) As one year ends and another begins, I like to take the opportunity to look back over the past year, taking stock of what I have achieved, the goals I haven’t yet reached and the intentions I want to set for the year ahead. When it comes to goals for my physical health, it’s been a pretty good year. I’ve committed to getting regular exercise and remained consistent in going to the gym, which is…

Dreading your birthday? Here’s how to make it a happy one!
Review of How to Have a Happy Birthday by Tamar Hurwitz-Fleming (2024, 146 pages) A couple of years ago, I reached a significant milestone and celebrated a big birthday! My husband had thoughtfully organised a surprise birthday dinner, and we had a wonderful evening surrounded by close family. However, amid all the joy and merriment, I found myself grappling with mixed emotions about entering a new decade. I tried to focus on the positives (and there were many!), but deep down, I was struggling with the idea of ageing. Being young at heart, I didn’t feel ready to embrace the number I had turned and I couldn’t help but mourn…

So many books, so little time? Headway might be your solution!
Review of Headway, the Book Summary App As you might have guessed from my blog’s name, I’m an avid reader of personal development books and happily devour them from cover to cover, one right after the other. My biggest challenge is narrowing down my ever-growing ‘To Read’ list and deciding which book to pick up next! There are just so many incredible books out there, packed full of transformative ideas, but never enough time to read them all! Also, after completing numerous qualifications over the years (and admittedly feeling a bit burnt out) I have started to explore new ways to fuel my passion for personal growth without the commitment…

Is perfectionism plaguing you? Discover the root causes of perfectionism and how to overcome it!
Review of How to be Enough by Dr Ellen Hendriksen (2025, 320 pages) Looking back, perfectionism has been the driving force behind so many of my actions! During my time at college and university, I would stay up into the early hours, meticulously refining every sentence in my assignment, poring over the copious notes I had compiled from textbooks, and making numerous revisions in an attempt to get everything ‘just right’. At work, it would often take me longer than necessary to get tasks done, because I would double and triple-check every detail, terrified of making the smallest mistake. It even affected the way I presented myself to others. I…

Deepen your connection with yourself and others
Review of Super Psyched by Dr Adam Dorsay (2024, 296 pages) Ever felt like you are living a life that no longer aligns with who you are or the person you want to be? Do you sometimes feel like you are drifting apart from your friends and loved ones? When was the last time you felt truly excited about life? I can clearly remember times in my life when I have felt deeply disconnected. These have been really difficult periods, marked by restlessness and a sense of feeling completely out of alignment. One such time was early in my career, when I felt unfulfilled in my role and began to…

How to have a calm Christmas
Review of Calm Christmas and a Happy New Year by Beth Kempton (2019, 227 pages) As much as I love celebrating Christmas with my nearest and dearest, it can be a really stressful time of year! It is easy to get caught up in the preparations, trying to meet expectations, and frantically attempting to create the ‘picture perfect’ Christmas that you see on social media, all while juggling work commitments and the numerous events that begin to fill up the school calendar. You might find that after ‘the big day’ you are feeling worn out, fatigued and promising yourself that next year will be different. In Calm Christmas and a…
